I always see posts on my dash like “I wish i had a guy/girl bestfriend”.. “If only i had a guy/girl bestfriend” ect. Let me tell you something, having a bestfriend of the opposite gender isn’t always easy. I mean, you tell them everything about you, talk to them all the time, see them all the time, you’re always there for them and they’re always there for you. They listen to you when you’re mad or upset and they provide a shoulder to cry on. You know everything about one another. one way or another, one of you are going to end up developing feelings for each other. Honestly, it’s kind of hard not to develop feelings when you two are so close. But as strong as those feelings are for him/her, they are your bestfriend. If you get into a relationship and breakup, you won’t have that strong of a bond anymore. You realize the only way you can stay close to that person is if you remain just friends. You will always love them, but unfortunately, the farthest that love will go is the friend kind of love, nothing more.

I think it’s a load of horse shit, Isin’t your boyfriend or girlfriend all ready supposed to be your best friend? the one who is always there for you. You say you see posts and posts on your dashboard of people looking for a opposite gender best friend? Most people want to establish a opposite gender best friend and then move to a serious relationship instead of rushing things with someone you don’t know very well. It sounds to me that a similar situation happend to you, and you just gave up. If you went out with your best friend and if they truly love you, as long as no one cheated or did something horribly wrong, and things just didn’t work then it won’t matter if they are together or not. If they truly are your best friend, then even if they are with you in a relationship or not, they will love you no matter what and just want you to be happy. If you do go out and things don’t work for the right reasons then your friendship should be stronger than ever. If they don’t talk to you or your relationship lessens after you break up then it sounds to be that they may have liked you, but they didn’t truly love you as a person before they went out with you. I understand that the break-up period may be ruff, but so is evey break up. Dont preach that best friend relationships don’t work because I’m sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sure that you’re an expert and have data to back up your opinion besides possibly one experience…… my opinion is from asking numerous succesful marriages and a well thought idea.
